The 6th Annual Early Childhood Development Education and Youth Empowerment Summit 2019 themed: ‘’TOWARDS ACHIEVING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGS): WHAT IS A SUCCESSFUL MULTI-SECTORAL APPROACH TO EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION AND YOUTH VOCATIONAL TRAINING?’’ was building on the discussions from the 5th Annual Early Childhood Education Summit 2018 held in Mombasa County, focusing on what constitutes comprehensive, multi-sectoral, and good quality ECDE and Youth Vocational Training services leading to the holistic development of young children and Youth.
The 6th Annual Summit provided a stronger focus on generating successful multi-sectoral programme models and good practices based on the experiences in designing and implementing ECDE and Youth Vocational Training/Empowerment programmes, especially those which are being implemented on large-scale (or in the process of scaling-up) with strong leadership and/or support from the Government. The summit was held from 24-28 February 2019;

The 6th Annual Summit which was held at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) Nairobi, Kenya appreciates the normative foundation of the devolved system of government under Article 6(2) of the Constitution which provides that the two levels of government are distinct but inter-dependent and shall conduct their mutual relations on the basis of consultation and cooperation. In realizing the objects of devolution under Article 174 of the Constitution, regular consultations based on good faith are inevitable. The summit was here to support the enhancement of the quality, accessibility and equitable distribution and provision of services for children and youth through more efficient partnerships and capacity building within various counties in Kenya as provided by the Kenyan 2010 new constitution.
