5TH ANNUAL SUMMIT 2018

The 5th Annual Early Childhood Education Summit and Exhibition which was held from 26th February to 2nd March 2018 at Sai Rock Beach Hotel in Mombasa County. The summit was intended to take lead in harmonizing our capacities and resources for better service delivery of ECDE programs in the Republic of Kenya.

The Summit which was Themed: ''SCALING-UP OF EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT SERVICE DELIVERY IN KENYA'' was a unique opportunity for more than 123 delegates including Legislatures, Law/Policymakers, Government Ministries, Researchers and Education Development practitioners from 47 Counties in Kenya and invited guest/Institutions across the globe, to discuss how to improve the provision of ECDE services in Kenya by building a shared prosperity through social and economic transformation of the sector for the best interest of Kenyan Child. The 5th Annual ECDE summit 2018 was an opportunity for us to deliberate on the miles stones and examine the challenges in order to improve our capacity in offering Early Childhood Education services to our children and the Republic of Kenya..

 

For the four days of engagement, we notice that Devolution has revamped Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) by handing its management over to county governments. This has radically changed Kenya’s education system and standards by putting emphasis on the foundation a child gets in education, which tends to affect how such a child engages with education in later life. Devolution has also increased the number of children who get exposed to education, which has directly affected the number of children who stay in school through primary, secondary and university level.
